Heat-optimised design requires both good heat distribution within the module and good heat transfer into and out of the appliance. However, good thermal management also requires constant communication and coordination between all parties involved. CelsiusEC is a simulation software customised for the development of electronic devices. It enables the developer to predict the thermal challenges and simulatively check the resulting solution concepts, from PCB conceptualisation and CAD-based housing design through to the virtual prototype.

Sales in the cooling industry are likely to rise in line with the increase in power losses. The most important design rule is therefore “power loss that is not generated does not have to be dissipated” (circuit). Complex temperature calculations (predictions) of components, boards and housings with “pencil and paper” are impossible, but there are good approximations for certain estimates. You need a certain amount of experience and training to use them, as they only apply to certain conditions. The entire heat network from the component to the environment can only be treated by numerical simulation. The goal of delivering a thermally good prototype can be achieved more quickly than with time-consuming experiments.
